I've been immersed on the process of creating a book trailer for my novel Black Numbers, and as I have worked on it, I realized just how much the book world is changing, and how quickly it is moving into new realms of marketing and publishing.
Until a month ago, I had never even heard of the concept of a book trailer. When I signed with Fantasy Island Book Publishing last month, I heard that we should create book trailers for our soon to be published novels. I thought to myself, "what the hell is a book trailer and why do we need one?". So I started researching them, and I found that it is a new and hugely popular way to add some life to one's book marketing, and even many of the 'BIG' authors now have book trailers.
I think it is a fantastic media option, and I jumped into it, creating my own trailer. It is currently in the hands of a hollywood film scorer who is creating an original music score for it, and I can't wait to see the end result. I will post it here when it is finished.
But I also wanted to look into the Time Machine of book marketing to see what our future holds, and I think that with the new eBook format and eBook reading devices becoming increasingly more accepted and popular as a way to buy and read books, that book marketing will continute to merge into the realm of movie marketing, and more budgets will go toward creating high-quality book trailers that will go on T.V., and we will look back on 2011 and realize that this was the year that really started the book marketing revolution.
I anxiously look forward to seeing the new ways that we will market our books in the future, but one thing will always remain the same. Books will always hold a special place in the hearts of people everywhere, no matter how the delivery medium changes, and effective marketing will only increase readership around the world.

Black Numbers officially through Fantasy Island Book Publishers, now listed on Amazon
The new version of Black Numbers, through Fantasy Island Book Publishing, is now available on Amazon. The book has been edited by one of their top editors, and I have incorporated much of the feedback that I received from readers of my original version (thank you to Erica, Lisa, and Don). The new cover is also amazing!
Look for this new version to be available in Print later this fall.
