I've been on Twitter now for 5 months. I started my account because I had just published my book Black Numbers, and I wanted to network with other authors, readers, and people in the entertainment industry. I had no idea what Twitter would truly be like though, and how wonderful it is as a medium to connect with people who are amazing.
One such amazing connection I made was with @PromoteHorror, who runs a great website promoting horror movies, books, and art. @PromoteHorror has always been fun to tweet with, and I've enjoyed our friendship. But today I was surprised and honored to find out that they featured my book Black Numbers on their site PromoteHorror. It is amazing!
So if you are not on Twitter yet, join up today and start networking with people. If I hadn't, I would not have met @PromoteHorror, or any of the amazing people that I've come to know on Twitter.
Cheers,
Dean Lappi

Book trailer... Score!
I recently updated my book trailer for my hybrid Fantasy/Horror novel BLACK NUMBERS to include a new email address that I now have with my publishing company Fantasy Island Book Publishing. So while I was at it, I added some additional information in the trailer, fixed a few things, and so on. Here is the updated book trailer.
I was chatting with a friend about the book trailer, discussing the tools one can use (I used Windows Live Movie Maker), and the issue of ensuring the music one uses is legally procured. I was fortunate to get a hollywood film scorer to create an original piece of music and do the scoring of my book trailer. His name is Troy Stone. He may be interested in doing additional scoring projects with authors for book trailer, although his time is limited (he works full-time in the industry). If you are interested in connecting with him, please let me know.
Thank you!
Cheers,
Dean

How should a blog look?
I just changed the look and feel of my blog to use a white background instead of black, and black text instead of white.
I initially created my blog five months ago to reflect the theme of my first novel BLACK NUMBERS, dark and ominous. But I think that a black background/white text really inhibited easy reading and viewing of the blog. So I flipped it.
Does the look and feel of a blog affect how often it is viewed? I think the answer to that is yes. If you look at the web pages of the largest companies, you will find that most of them use lighter backgrounds and black text for readability purposes.
So I decided to move away from making my blog reflect the theme of my novel BLACK NUMBERS, and concentrate on the content of the blog instead.
It is all a part of my journey. I had never blogged before I published my first novel, didn't even really understand the purposes that blogs have. So I'm continually learning, understanding, and changing how I do things. I guess that is a good thing. Change is positive.
Happy blogging everyone!
Cheers
